Ketapang, 26 February 2025 – In welcoming the holy month of Ramadan and commemorating National Waste Awareness Day, Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) (Ketapang State Polytechnic, Politap) held a Green Campus Declaration and a clean-up drive titled “Politap Peduli Lingkungan” on Wednesday, 26 February 2025. This activity involved 1,000 members of the Politap academic community, comprising 800 students and 200 staff members. Participants were required to wear t-shirts featuring the Politap logo or appropriate attire and bring their own drink tumblers to reduce plastic waste.

This event was organized to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and realizing the “Green Campus” program, which was established through the Regulation of the Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang Number 2 of 2025 concerning the Green Campus Policy within Politeknik Negeri Ketapang.
Green Campus is an environmentally conscious campus program that applies ecology-based policies. Through the implementation of environmentally friendly development and vocational education, this concept serves as a solution to climate change challenges while creating a comfortable and sustainable learning environment.
The event commenced at 06:30 AM WIB with line-up arrangements by the committee. The opening agenda proceeded with the singing of the national anthem Indonesia Raya and the Mars Politap. Director of Politap, Irianto SP, S.ST., M.MA, then delivered directions on the importance of safeguarding the environment and the spirit of mutual cooperation in creating a healthy environment.

Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang, Irianto SP, S.ST., M.MA, emphasized in his speech the importance of preserving environmental cleanliness as part of a collective responsibility.
“Through this activity, we aim to build awareness of the importance of a healthy environment, especially during this blessed month of Ramadan. We hope that this spirit of maintaining cleanliness continues in our daily lives,” he said.
On this occasion, the Director also introduced the campus's new slogan, BERTUAH (Berintegritas, Efisien, Responsif, Terpercaya, Unggul, Adaptif, dan Harmonis), as a guideline for building an academic culture that is Disciplined, Superior, and Independent in line with Politap's motto.
In the Great Dictionary of the Indonesian Language (KBBI), the word bertuah means good fortune, blessing, and bringing about goodness. As an acronym, BERTUAH stands for:
- B: Berintegritas (Integrity – meaning that the Politap academic community possesses sound integrity);
- E: Efisien (Efficient – meaning that the Politap academic community is capable of carrying out duties accurately and thoroughly);
- R: Responsif (Responsive – meaning that the Politap academic community responds well, swiftly, and appropriately);
- T: Terpercaya (Trustworthy – meaning that the Politap academic community can be trusted and relied upon);
- U: Unggul (Superior – meaning that the Politap academic community is capable of competing and excelling);
- A: Adaptif (Adaptive – meaning that the Politap academic community easily adapts to any situation and anywhere);
- H: Harmonis (Harmonious – meaning that the Politap academic community is able to work harmoniously, maintaining balance with humanity, nature, and the Creator).
This slogan is expected to become a core value upheld by the entire academic community in carrying out their responsibilities, both within the campus environment and in society.
Following the direction from the Director, Vice Director for General Affairs and Finance, Yusuf, S.ST., MT, designated clean-up zones to participants consisting of staff and students. The event continued with a prayer led by Deden Nugraha, SP, followed by a group photo session as documentation of the participants' commitment to this environmental action.

As a symbol of environmental commitment, the signing of a Joint Commitment was carried out by the Director and all participants. Afterwards, participants carried out tree planting across the campus area to support greening efforts.
The pinnacle of the event was the clean-up drive across the Politap environment conducted simultaneously according to the designated zones. In the spirit of unity, participants cleaned campus premises, collected waste, and ensured the surroundings remained tidy and pleasant.

The activity concluded with a friendly gathering (Begalor), serving as an opportunity for fellowship and reflection on the importance of sustainable environmental stewardship.
Politap hopes that this activity is not merely ceremonial, but represents a tangible step toward fostering an environmentally conscious culture. May this spirit of cleanliness continue to be maintained, not only on campus but also in our daily lives. (finn)
