The Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) attended the launch of the 2022 National Selection for State Polytechnic Admission (SNMPN) in Jakarta, an event organized by the Indonesian State Polytechnic Directors Forum (FDPNI) and the Directorate of Higher Vocational Education Academic Affairs on Monday, 3 January 2022. For official information and registration, schools can access the website https://snmpn.politeknik.or.id. After registering, they will receive a username and password to log in and recommend as well as register their best students to enter polytechnics. Recommended students are also given a username and password to submit data online. Registration is open from 3 January to 18 March 2022 and is specifically intended for students graduating in 2022.
Director of Higher Vocational Education Academic Affairs, Beny Bandanadjaja, who served as a speaker and the official inaugurating the launch of the 2022 SNMPN, advised students to be very careful in choosing study programs at their target polytechnics. He added not to pick the wrong study program, as the academic process in higher education requires suitable inputs, both in terms of education and expertise.
“There are many hopes pinned on SMK, SMA, and MA students across Indonesia who wish to pursue higher education. And this National Selection for State Polytechnic Admission (SNMPN) is an available vocational higher education admission pathway. Furthermore, next year, State Community Academies (AKN) will also join,” said Beny Bandanadjaja, who attended and officially inaugurated the launch of SNMPN 2022.
Historically, SNMPN has served as an alternative pathway to pursue education at Polytechnic Vocational Higher Education institutions. Although the number of applicants declined last year, this does not mean the track lacks public interest. Based on data from the 2020 SNMPN, 214,507 students registered for the two program options available at the time: D3 and Applied Bachelor's degrees. In 2021, applicants fell to 128,547 students, but only the D3 program option was available, while the Applied Bachelor's track merged into the LTMPT selection.
Just like the previous year, the 2022 SNMPN is an invitation-based selection pathway intended for prospective applicants/students seeking to pursue a 3-year diploma (D3) education at State Polytechnics across Indonesia. Meanwhile, the Applied Bachelor's level will conduct joint selection through the National Selection for State University Admission (SNMPTN) organized by the Higher Education Entrance Test Institute (LTMPT).
The SNMPN track is intended for prospective applicants/students seeking to continue their education at State Polytechnics and State Agricultural Polytechnics (Politani) throughout Indonesia, conducted concurrently through an academic and non-academic achievement portfolio selection. Performance assessment covers the period of the student's education in senior secondary school. Regarding costs, applicants through the SNMPN pathway are not charged any registration fee. The SNMPN track is also open to applicants from economically disadvantaged families, who may apply for the KIP Kuliah scholarship.
