Implementing CBT, Politap Entrance Selection Can Be Taken from Home

Admission for new students at Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) through the Joint Entrance Selection for State Polytechnics (SBMPN) is open from 10 May to 10 June 2021, with the entrance examination scheduled to take place on 12 June 2021 using the Computer Based Test (CBT).  Director of Politap Endang Kusmana, accompanied by Vice Director for Academic Affairs Adha Panca Wardhanu, conveyed that based on the agreement of the Indonesian State Polytechnic Directors Forum (FDPNI) meeting held on 5 May 2021, the implementation of the entrance selection is delegated to each polytechnic, either through the Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) or a portfolio review.

Endang explained that Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Politap) is utilizing the Computer Based Test (CBT) for this SBMPN admission track, having previously implemented CBT since 2020 for its independent selection track. According to Endang, the CBT method allows candidates to take the entrance test from home in line with efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, he added that if there are limitations or concerns regarding information technology facilities or signal strength, the campus has prepared computer laboratories with the implementation of strict health protocols.

Furthermore, the Director of Politap added that the digitalization currently being carried out at Politeknik Negeri Ketapang aims to provide the widest possible access  to the public, particularly those in outermost areas and remote villages, to obtain higher education services that collaborate with industry through convenient digital channels. All services for students are accessible directly on each student's gadget, he stated.

Vice Director for Academic Affairs Adha Panca Wardhanu stated that the 2021 SBMPN provides opportunities for senior high school graduates to apply for Diploma III Study Programs, namely the D3 Agroindustry, D3 Plantation Product Processing Technology, D3 Informatics Engineering, D3 Machine Maintenance and Repair, D3 Electrical Engineering, and D3 Mining Engineering Study Programs.
