Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) (Ketapang State Polytechnic, POLITAP) held a Red and White Flag-Raising Ceremony to commemorate the 2019 National Teacher's Day in the Main Courtyard of the POLITAP Directorate, Ketapang, on Monday (25/11) morning. The ceremony was attended by all POLITAP staff and students. Vice Director for Student Affairs and Information Systems of POLITAP, Epriyandi, served as the ceremony inspector.

The commemoration of the 2019 National Teacher's Day carried the theme “Driving Teachers for an Advanced Indonesia”. This theme was chosen based on the profound and decisive role of teachers throughout the course of Indonesian history. Since the colonial era, teachers have consistently instilled awareness of national dignity and fostered a spirit of nationalism among students and the community. During the early stages of the national awakening, teachers were active in youth organizations defending the homeland and nurturing the spirit and enthusiasm of student youth.

The objectives of the 2019 National Teacher's Day Commemoration were to enhance the strategic role of teachers and educational personnel in building attitudes, skills, and knowledge to improve the quality of education, to emulate the spirit and dedication of teachers as professional and dignified educators, and to raise public awareness and concern regarding the vital standing and strategic role of teachers and educational personnel in character building for the nation.

“Tomorrow, wherever you are, make a small change in your classroom; engage the class in discussion, not just listening, give students the opportunity to teach in class, initiate a social service project involving the whole class, discover a talent in a student who lacks self-confidence, and offer help to a teacher who is experiencing difficulties. Whatever small change it is, if every teacher does it simultaneously, this great ship called Indonesia will surely move. Happy Teacher's Day,” read an excerpt from the speech of the Minister of Education and Culture delivered by the Vice Director for Student Affairs and Information Systems of POLITAP.
