KETAPANG – Friday (15/07/2022). Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) conducted a working visit to sign a cooperation agreement with the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) of Kuala Satong Mangrove Forest under the theme “Mangrove Forest Ecotourism Development to Improve the Community's Economy”.
Head of the Cooperation Working Group Martanto stated that Kuala Satong Village has a mangrove forest area of 6 hectares. Community empowerment in mangrove tourism development is expected to become a solution to community challenges and serve as a sustainable initiative. Various activities will be carried out to develop Mangrove Forest Tourism in Kuala Satong Village. These activities include processing pedada fruit into food products such as dodol and ready-to-drink beverages, conducting training on website management and social media content creation to promote activities in the mangrove forest, and homestay management training by applying CHSE (Cleanliness , Health , Safety, and Environment Sustainability). Another activity carried out is providing education on the importance of tour packages and levy collection, as well as creating photo spots to attract tourists.
The goal to be achieved in this community service implementation is an increase in the Kuala Satong community's knowledge in utilizing kedabu fruit into products of economic value. In addition, it also aims to assist Pokdarwis in developing mangrove forest tourism into a leading tourist destination in Ketapang Regency. Thus, the ultimate hope is that the existing ecotourism can provide economic value for the welfare of the people of Kuala Satong Village. (Finan Su)
