Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) held its 9th Graduation ceremony on Wednesday, 2 October 2019. A total of 373 graduates consisted of 306 Three-Year Diploma (D3) students and 67 Applied Bachelor's (D4) students.
Director of Politap, Endang Kusmana congratulated the graduates who have completed their education. In his address, he noted that the present era is a time of disruption that brings both challenges and opportunities. He explained that higher education institutions must take two steps to address this: first, internally undergo self-transformation, and second, collaborate with external partners.
“The things we can do include improving the quality of learning and student affairs, enhancing institutional quality, strengthening research and development quality, upgrading human resource (HR) capacity, and improving governance and accountability,” the Director explained.
The graduation was also attended by the Regent of Ketapang Regency, represented by the Regional Secretary of Ketapang Regency, H. Farhan S.E., M.Si, and the Head of LPJK of West Kalimantan Province, Ir. Baskoro Efendy.
In his remarks, the Regional Secretary expressed appreciation to Politeknik Negeri Ketapang for providing higher education for the community of Ketapang Regency.
At the end of the ceremony, Politeknik Negeri Ketapang signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Construction Services Development Board (LPJK) of West Kalimantan Province to foster competent Human Resources (HR).
In his speech, the Head of LPJK of West Kalimantan Province, Ir. Baskoro Effendy appreciated Politap’s goodwill in entering into an MoU with LPJK.
“We appreciate this Memorandum of Understanding as the first between LPJK and Politap, and so far our communication with the Director of Politap has gone very well,” he stated. He also offered motivating words to Politap graduates, which were warmly received.
Politap presented awards to the top graduates from each study program, namely Erian Rama Putra from Machine Maintenance and Repair, Salawati from Mining Engineering, Shela Krisdayanti from Plantation Product Processing Technology, Karlina from Informatics Engineering, Umi Haryanti from Agroindustry, Muhammad Aqramul Huda from Electrical Engineering, Titis Lia Astriani from Plantation Crop Cultivation, and Syaiful Amri from Civil Engineering. The valedictorian with a 3.97 GPA and graduated with honors was Karlina from the Informatics Engineering study program.
Congratulations to the graduates of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang. The journey on this beloved campus has concluded, but it does not mean learning is over. The need to learn will continue alongside ongoing changes. May the knowledge gained be applied in real life and benefit society.
