Not only that, visits to prominent companies in the UK, namely Morgan Motor Company and Google UK, became an unforgettable experience for her. There were many interesting things she gained during the industrial visits, ranging from directly observing work activities and culture in the industry, seeing technologies and tools used in the industry, to interacting and discussing directly with professionals working within the industry.

“I feel very fortunate to be one of those selected to participate in this program. From this training, I gained essential knowledge about decision-making techniques that I can implement to improve my teaching and decision-making skills, thereby increasing my work effectiveness and productivity in the future,” said Rizqia.

The success of this program was inseparable from the involvement of the Professor of Sustainability and Supply Chain Management at Coventry University, Prof. Benny Tjahjono. Prof. Benny Tjahjono designed this training with interactive sessions through a combination of class teaching, group discussions, and case studies. Training participants were provided with insights into current industry trends and best practices to address the complexities of engineering and business management problems.

During her training period at Coventry University, Rizqia also had the opportunity to visit several research centre buildings. From her observations, Rizqia realized that Coventry University provides numerous learning facilities in line with industry standards. This resonates with what Prof. Benny Tjahjono conveyed. He stated, “Coventry University was previously a Polytechnic that applied the Learning Factory concept. Therefore, we have an extensive industrial network and currently have 18 Research Centres.”

Rizqia hopes this can serve as an inspiration for Politap to gradually improve learning facilities at Politap in the future so that they align more ideally with the Teaching Factory (TeFa) concept, which is indeed a program of the Directorate General of Vocational Education.

The participation of a Politap lecturer in an international program such as “Mastering Decision Dynamics” at Coventry University provides valuable insights not only for the lecturer but also for the institution, while opening opportunities to expand networks and knowledge transfer through strategic collaboration to enhance Politap's capacity to become an outstanding polytechnic. High-quality lecturers will encourage the institution to improve its performance in managing vocational higher education toward distinctive excellence.

Appreciation is extended to KLSD-PTV for its work program. Hopefully, the NDPKD program will continue to be a regular KLSD-PTV initiative going forward, enabling vocational lecturers to develop their skills and build a competitive advantage in a rapidly growing vocational higher education environment.

A lecturer from Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) was selected to participate in the Non-Degree Lecturer Competency Enhancement Program (NDKPD Program) titled Mastering Decision Dynamics at Coventry University, UK from 16 October 2023 to 3 November 2023. She is Rizqia Lestika Atimi, S.T., M.T., a lecturer in the Information Technology Study Program at Politap. The program organized by the Directorate General of Vocational Education through the Directorate of Institutional and Vocational Resources (KLSD) aims to enhance lecturers' competencies, insights, and knowledge regarding current industrial developments and dynamics.

Rizqia stated that during the training, she gained a great deal of new knowledge related to decision-making in the context of engineering and business management, decision-making frameworks, data analysis and interpretation, financial management, simulation models, as well as risk assessment and management. She also had the opportunity to learn directly from industry practitioners, namely Phil Clulow, Managing Director of Malone Group, a prominent IT company in the UK.
