Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) has once again received scholarships from a corporate partner, this time from PT Bank Syariah Mandiri Ketapang Branch. The scholarship was symbolically handed over directly by the Branch Manager of PT Bank Syariah Mandiri Ketapang, Deni Irawan, to the Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang, Endang Kusmana, in the Director's office on Monday, 9 December 2019. The Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang warmly welcomed the provision of scholarships from industry partners to Politap, noting that PT Bank Syariah Mandiri's commitment to education deserves high appreciation, especially since currently about 60% of Politap's 1,554 students have parents with a gross monthly income of less than IDR 2,000,000, meaning these scholarships will assist high-achieving and underprivileged students in continuing their studies at Politap.
Meanwhile, Deni Irawan, Branch Manager of Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) Ketapang, stated that this scholarship grant is a collaborative effort between the business sector and higher education to assist Politap students in need. He added that his institution will continue to support initiatives to improve the quality of human resources in Ketapang through collaborative partnerships with Politeknik Negeri Ketapang.
Politap Vice Director for Student Affairs, Epriyandi, further explained that the scholarship recipients are students who are high-achieving, economically disadvantaged, or orphans, and who do not receive any other scholarships at Politap. The Vice Director for Student Affairs added that recipient criteria had been coordinated with Bank BSM, followed by an internal selection process before proposing the candidate recipients to the bank. Epriyandi hoped that in 2020, the scholarships provided to Politap students would increase.
Currently, scholarships prepared for students at Politeknik Negeri Ketapang include Bidikmisi, Academic Achievement Improvement scholarships, and scholarships from industry partners. In the coming years, Politap will continue efforts to increase the number of scholarships received by students from both the government and the industrial sector, with the hope that eventually the majority of Politap students can enjoy tuition-free education during their studies at Politap.
