Deepening Coding and AI Skills, SMPN 1 Ketapang Teachers Learn at Politap

Ketapang, 16 September 2025 – Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) welcomed a study visit from educators of SMP Negeri 1 Ketapang on Tuesday (16/09). A total of 13 teachers attended to enhance their insights into technological developments, particularly in the fields of Coding and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The material was presented by Darmanto, S.Kom., M.Kom., lecturer and Study Program Coordinator of Information Technology at Politap. He outlined the fundamentals of programming (coding) and introduced artificial intelligence, which is now widely applied across various fields.

Beyond theory, the speaker also emphasized how this technology can be integrated into secondary school learning. For example, using simple AI-based applications to assist students in learning languages, mathematics, or even arts. Consequently, teachers can be better prepared to introduce digital literacy to students from an early age.

Following the presentation, the event continued with a visit to the Electrical Technology Study Program. The group was welcomed by the Head of the Department of Electrical and Informatics Engineering, Yudi Chandra, S.ST., M.T., along with the Electrical Technology Study Program Coordinator, Ivan Suwanda, S.T., M.T. Participants had the opportunity to inspect the laboratory and workshop facilities used by students to study the electrical field.

Afterward, the group proceeded to the Information Technology Study Program. In this session, explanations regarding facilities, learning activities, and the implementation of information technology at Politap were guided directly by the Information Technology Study Program technician team. Teachers from SMPN 1 Ketapang engaged enthusiastically in discussions about how digital technology can be integrated into secondary school education.

The study visit concluded with a group photo session, further strengthening the collaborative relationship between SMP Negeri 1 Ketapang and Politeknik Negeri Ketapang in supporting the improvement of technology-based education quality. (Finn)
