The 9th webinar series of the DIII Mining Engineering Study Program was held on 5 October 2020, attended by 242 registered participants. This webinar adopted the theme of Management of the Bauxite Processing Industry into Alumina. Attended by lecturers, students, and practitioners, the webinar featured ITB Professor Prof.Dr.mont M. Zaki Mubarok, ST,MT, as well as industry representatives Zainal Muttakin, ST and Ilham Tanjung, ST from PT Indonesia Chemical Alumina, a subsidiary of PT Aneka Tambang.
The Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic), who opened the event, stated that Ketapang Regency's potential with its numerous mining industries presents extraordinary opportunities and facilitates student internships, industrial lecturer activities, practitioner lecturer engagements, curriculum development, case study learning, and candidate recruitment, thereby strengthening the link and match between industry and the Polytechnic.
Meanwhile, Head of Department of Mining Engineering Herman stated that this webinar was an effort to substitute industrial visits that could not be conducted during the pandemic with a webinar model, hoping that this event would still provide students with insights into the processing of bauxite into alumina.
