Plantation Product Technology Study Program Conducts Industrial Visit to PT Kayung Agro Lestari

Ketapang, 28 October 2025 — The D3 Plantation Product Technology (THP) Study Program of the Department of Agriculture and Business, Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic), conducted an Industrial Visit to PT Kayung Agro Lestari (KAL), Laman Satong Village, North Matan Hilir District, Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan.

This activity was attended by participants consisting of lecturers, technicians, academic service staff, and students of the D3 THP Study Program. The industrial visit aimed to provide knowledge and broaden students' insights into the palm oil processing industry directly in the field.

During the activity, students received explanations regarding occupational health and safety (K3) aspects, sorting and grading processes of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), as well as the fruit cooking stages to produce crude palm oil (CPO). In addition, participants were introduced to CPO quality analysis methods applied in the mill.

This industrial visit was also combined with Monitoring and Evaluation (MONEV) of academic activities as well as the symbolic handover of a plaque to the Mill Manager of PT Kayung Agro Lestari as a form of appreciation and strong cooperation between the campus and the industry.

Through this activity, students are expected to better understand production processes in the palm oil industry and be able to bridge classroom theory with practical field application. (Finn)
