On Thursday, 14 April 2022, in the Director's meeting room, the Director of Politap, PT Cargill Group, the Vice Director, and the management of the Department of Plantation Product Management discussed the impact of industrial scholarships awarded to recipients from Cargill.
Since 2017, Politap has received scholarships from PT Cargill, a global corporation from the United States headquartered in Minnetonka, United States. Founded in 1865, Cargill is the largest privately held company by revenue in the United States.
Students receiving the Cargill scholarship (Ring 1) hail from Manis Mata District, Air Upas District, Jelai Hulu District, Marau District, Singkup District, and Kendawangan District. Based on interim alumni tracer data, 66.67% are employed, 6.67% are entrepreneurs, and 26.67% are not yet employed. The company discussed involving unemployed alumni (Cargill scholarship recipients) in the “local talent” program as part of community empowerment.
The Director of Politap welcomed this initiative and hoped that the long-standing collaboration could continue to grow in developing access villages.
