Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) Endang Kusmana conducted a working visit to the Branch Office of PT Garuda Indonesia Pontianak on Saturday, 25 July 2020. The visit was received by Sales & Service Manager of Garuda Indonesia Pontianak Herman Azwar. This visit was an effort by the Director of Politap to maintain continuous communication with industry partners regarding their respective roles in synergizing to enhance development in West Kalimantan.
The plan to open an international airport in Ketapang initiated by the local government of Ketapang Regency was discussed in depth by both parties. Politap is preparing so that Politap graduates can meet workforce demands when the airport opens, while Garuda welcomed the opening plan and encouraged economic growth as well as the enhancement of human resources quality in Ketapang Regency.
Both parties agreed to work in a more targeted manner through following up on existing cooperation agreements, especially to support industry and polytechnic collaboration in producing job-ready graduates. Both agreed that if the international airport in Ketapang opens, labor needs should be met by local personnel from Ketapang, meaning that the preparation of job-ready human resources must start now.
