KETAPANG, 9 July 2025 – Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) continues to strengthen its commitment to community empowerment through the Research and Community Service (P3KM) program. As part of this series of activities, Politap held a Gathering and Initial Observation in Suka Baru Village, Benua Kayong District, Ketapang Regency, on Wednesday, 9 July 2025.
This activity serves as an initial stage in preparing the 2026 P3KM program and focuses on needs assessment, namely the process of identifying and gathering information regarding local potential, the real needs of the community, and the challenges faced by the village. Through this approach, Politap seeks to design community service activities that are relevant, well-targeted, and sustainable.
Led by the Vice Director for Academic Affairs, Dr. Anto Susanto, S.ST., M.P., the activity was attended by department leaders, the Study Program Coordinator for Information Technology, representatives of the public relations team, and the Head of the Center for Research and Community Service (P3KM) Politap.
Upon arriving in Suka Baru Village, the Politap team was welcomed by village officials, including the Village Head of Suka Baru. The activity began with a gathering session, followed by an open discussion involving village officials and the delegation from Politap. During this discussion, village officials conveyed various challenges and needs they face in agriculture, the economy, education, basic infrastructure, as well as opportunities for local business development.

In his remarks, Dr. Anto Susanto emphasized that Politap is present not only as a higher education institution, but also as a strategic partner for the village in building community capacity in a participatory and collaborative manner.
“This needs assessment activity serves as an essential foundation in planning community service programs that provide solutions and are adaptive. Through this problem identification process, we want to ensure that the programs designed truly align with the real conditions and needs of the community, enabling us to devise activities that deliver real impact and empower people,” he explained.
Politap also invites all community elements to be actively involved from planning through program implementation, ensuring that the results can be experienced thoroughly and sustainably. This collaborative approach aligns with the spirit of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, especially in the community service pillar that prioritizes empowerment based on local needs.
This activity marks the continuation of the partnership between Politap and Suka Baru Village as a fostered village. It is expected that the results of this initial observation and identification will serve as a foundation for formulating more targeted community service programs that improve the quality of life for the village community.
