Over the past few years, we have been astonished to witness how drastically disruption has impacted various sectors of our lives. Disruption brings challenges, uncertainty, and new opportunities. If we can seize these opportunities, it will enhance our welfare and competitiveness. That was the directive from the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education during the 2019 National Working Meeting of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, as conveyed by the Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) after attending the National Working Meeting on 3–4 January 2019.
The National Working Meeting was attended by all officials within the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education. The meeting addressed key issues, achievements, and the 2019 work plan. Endang further conveyed that in addressing this disruption, institutions were asked to prepare themselves to: 1). perform self-disruption by transforming and disrupting themselves, 2). encourage research, technology, and higher education to be more open, flexible, and of higher quality, and 3). create a research, technology, and higher education ecosystem capable of meeting market demands, namely society and industry.
In response to this, Politap will promptly take steps including: 1). Improving the quality of learning and student affairs through curriculum revision in collaboration with industry to foster a dual system and encouraging student activities to create a conducive academic atmosphere, 2). Improving institutional quality through the formulation of Internal Quality Assurance Standards to drive accreditation improvements, 3). Enhancing research quality so that it benefits society, 4). Improving the quality of human resources, including lecturers, technicians, and other educational staff, and 5). Enhancing accountability and public services through integrated academic and non-academic e-governance management.
