Politap Director Delivers Session on “Strengthening Micro Enterprises Through a Management Science Approach” to MSME Actors in Ketapang

KETAPANG – Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic), Irianto SP, S.ST., M.MA., served as a speaker at the “Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Strengthening Competitive Micro Enterprises and the Signing of a Joint Agreement between the Ketapang Regency Government and Stakeholders” on Tuesday, 28 November 2023, at the 2nd Floor Ballroom of Hotel Nevada Ketapang.

The event, initiated by the Department of Cooperatives, SMEs, Trade, and Industry (DKUKMPP) of Ketapang Regency, was attended by the Regent of Ketapang, represented by the Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs, heads of relevant regional apparatus organizations (OPD), stakeholders and partners, as well as MSME actors across Ketapang Regency.

On this occasion, the Director delivered material on “The Role of Management in Strengthening Micro Enterprises” to 50 MSME actors in attendance. The Director emphasized that MSMEs need to establish a management system within their business management practices.

The Director further explained that within MSME management, several areas must be well-managed, including human resource management, marketing management, operations/production management, financial management, and information management.

“From an academic standpoint, drawing from management science, MSMEs certainly need a management system in running their operations. For instance, in financial management, by separating personal finances from business capital,” he explained.

In his presentation, the Director highlighted marketing management and information management, given the shifting trend of commercial activities toward the digital marketplace.

“We have now entered the digital era, meaning information management and marketing management must adapt to the times. What was once sold exclusively through conventional storefronts is now expanding into the digital sphere,” he noted.

According to the Director, this presents a significant opportunity for MSME owners. He expressed hope that MSME entrepreneurs will further boost their creativity in marketing in today's increasingly digital world.

In addition to delivering the presentation, the Director also participated in the signing of a Joint Agreement between the Ketapang Regency Government and Stakeholders. (Finn/Humas)
