PONTIANAK – Friday (21/10/2022). The Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) can be considered a champion of Project-Based Learning (PBL), voluntarily sharing knowledge on PBL implementation wherever he goes. This time, the Politap Director shared insights on PBL implementation with lecturers from the Study Program Outside the Main Campus (PSDKU) Sanggau, Politeknik Negeri Pontianak.

The sharing session took place in the Accounting Hall of Politeknik Negeri Pontianak. Endang, who is also a permanent lecturer in the Department of Accounting at Politeknik Negeri Pontianak, delivered several managerial tips in the effort to implement Project-Based Learning. According to Endang, PBL is a contemporary learning method solution because it accommodates the learning styles of Generation Z, namely the learning-by-doing method, multitasking capabilities, and the need for clear objectives at the beginning of the lesson along with prompt feedback.

Furthermore, Endang shared tips for teaching Generation Z: know the students, adapt communication styles, involve students in the learning process, provide opportunities for creativity, and foster critical thinking. According to Endang, these tips are essential because today's students are 21st-century learners, digital gamers, computer users, prefer YouTube over TV, cannot be separated from gadgets, and are accustomed to blogs, Wikipedia, email, social media, and websites that their lecturers might not even use. Therefore, lecturers today should not merely lecture, as what lecturers convey can easily be found on the internet, and students sometimes know it before the lecturers do.
