Politap Holds Virtual Socialization on Gratification

In the framework of implementing the Integrity Zone development towards a Corruption-Free Area and a Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Area, Politap organized a virtual socialization on gratification held on 13 August 2020. The event was led directly by the Director of Politap and attended by teaching and administrative staff within Politap.

Endang Kusmana conveyed that the public often thinks corruption is merely the embezzlement or misuse of money for personal or group interests. In reality, many actions fall into the category of corruption, one of which is gratification.

Gratification is the root of corruption and is prohibited because it can prevent state officials and employees from carrying out their duties properly and lead to abuse of power. Therefore, the government issued regulations to eradicate the practice of gratification, namely   Law No. 20 of 2001 on Amendments to Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of the Crime of Corruption, Law No. 30 of 2002 on the Corruption Eradication Commission (Anti-Corruption Law), and Minister of Finance Regulation Number 03/PMK.06/2011 on the Management of State-Owned Property Originating from Confiscated Goods and Gratification Goods.

Sanctions imposed on recipients according to Article 12B Paragraph (2) of the Law on the Eradication of the Crime of Corruption are life imprisonment or a minimum imprisonment of 4 (four) years and a maximum of 20 (twenty) years, and a minimum fine of IDR 200,000,000.00 (two hundred million rupiah) and a maximum of IDR 1,000,000,000.00 (one billion rupiah).

The Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud), through the Inspectorate General of Kemendikbud, invites the public to jointly monitor if there are actions that fall into the gratification category. The public can report acts of gratification through the website posko-pengaduan.itjen.kemdikbud.go.id. There is no need to be afraid to report gratification practices because Kemendikbud will maintain the confidentiality of the whistleblower's personal identity and only focus on the information reported.
