Politap Hosts the 9th West Kalimantan Mapala TWKM

Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) hosted the 9th West Kalimantan Student Nature Lovers (Mapala) Gathering and Field Orientation (TWKM), which took place from 9 – 14 September 2019. The event was attended by student nature lovers organizations, namely: 1). Mapala BMRB Politap, 2). Mapala Enggang Gadung IAIN Pontianak, 3). MATA UMP-Pontianak, 4). Kompass Universitas Kapuas Sintang, 5). GMPA Cagar Gaspasi IKIP PGRI Pontianak, 6). Mapala Diranda (Universitas BSI Pontianak), 7). Mapala Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak, 8). Mapala Politeknik Negeri Sambas, 9). Mapala Politeknik Negeri Pontianak.

Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang, Endang, stated in his remarks that he cares deeply about nature, as historically nature and humans are united; therefore, he wholeheartedly supports the presence of the Nature Lovers Students at Politeknik Negeri Ketapang. Endang outlined his work program to develop Information Technology so that office services can save paper. Endang added that every 12,000 sheets of paper costs one tree.

Meanwhile, Hairian Rachmadi, advising lecturer of Mapala BMRB Politap, stated that the 9th Gathering and Field Orientation was filled with various activities: 1). Environmental sessions, 2). Discussion of activity outcomes, 3). Presentation of activity results, 4). Biodiversity observation in the coastal zone, 5). Data collection, 6). Watching documentary films together with local residents, 7). Planting 1,000 mangrove trees in Pesaguan, Ketapang, 8). Community service.
