News Admin Portal 2 min read

Higher education quality assurance consists of 3 (three) subsystems: the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) implemented by higher education institutions, the External Quality Assurance System (SPME) or Accreditation implemented by Independent Accreditation Agencies, and the Higher Education Database (PD Dikti) managed by each higher education institution and the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti), serving as a source of data and information on the implementation of SPMI and SPME. The Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) is a systemic activity of higher education quality assurance carried out autonomously or independently by each higher education institution to control and improve the quality of higher education delivery in a planned and sustainable manner. Therefore, SPMI must be planned, implemented, evaluated, controlled, and developed by each higher education institution.

This was the core message of the Technical Guidance Workshop for the Internal Quality Assurance System held in Pontianak on 27–30 March 2019. Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic)'s commitment to implementing SPMI was demonstrated by dispatching the Vice Director for Academic Affairs, the Head of the Center for Learning Development and Educational Quality Assurance (P4MP), and the Senate Chair to attend the workshop. This commitment was outlined in a Follow-up Action Plan (RTL) for SPMI Implementation signed by the Politap Team and the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, which includes 1) the drafting/refinement of SPMI documents, and 2) SPMI implementation.

The Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang, Endang Kusmana, stated that his institution will complete the Follow-up Action Plan (RTL) this year through the following steps: 1) preparing and studying various materials, 2) conducting benchmarking against other higher education institutions (if deemed necessary) to obtain information, experience, and advice or inviting resource persons, 3) organizing meetings involving internal and external college stakeholders as a forum to gather suggestions, ideas, or information that can be used in formulating the Higher Education Standards set by the institution itself, 4) formulating the Higher Education Standards set by Politap, 5) conducting public testing of the formulated Higher Education Standards with internal and external stakeholders to obtain feedback for improving the Higher Education Standards set by Politap, 6) revising the content, editorial phrasing, and sentence structure of the draft Higher Education Standards set by Politap by taking into account the results of the public testing, and 7) establishing the Higher Education Standards set by Politap.
