Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) won 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the West Kalimantan archery championship organized by the Islamic Economics Student Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Tanjungpura on 16โ€“17 March 2019 at the Pontianak TVRI field. Politap's 2 gold medals were won by Yayuk Sakinah (a D-III Agroindustry student) in the Women's Qualification 1st Place and Women's Elimination 1st Place categories, while 1 silver medal was earned by Hairian Rahmadi (a lecturer in the D-III Machine Maintenance and Repair Study Program) in the Men's Qualification 2nd Place category.

Politap Director Endang Kusmana, accompanied by Vice Director for Academic Affairs Danu, who attended and cheered on the finalists, warmly welcomed the success of the Politap contingent. He stated that student achievements in both academic and non-academic fields will continue to be supported as part of enhancing institutional performance. Furthermore, Endang noted that higher education assessments are determined by institutional quality (accreditation), human resource quality, research and community service quality, and the quality of student activities; therefore, sending Politap contingents to bolster student achievements will continue to be developed.

The success of Yayuk and her peers is the result of continuous coaching with daily training sessions after classes. They are part of the Archery Student Activity Unit (UKM) or Politap Archery. Yayuk is a promising archery athlete who previously contributed a gold medal for Ketapang Regency at the West Kalimantan Provincial Sports Week. Furthermore, Endang stated that the institution will continue to support archery athletes to achieve higher results by sending them to national and international events.

The Politap contingent competing in this championship, besides Hairian and Yayuk, was also reinforced by Dewi Rahayu (D-IV Civil Engineering), Fajar Ferdian (D-IV Plantation Crop Cultivation Study Program), Uti Imam Kholiq (D-III Machine Maintenance and Repair Study Program), and Aditya (D-IV Plantation Crop Cultivation Study Program).
