Politap Welcomes Vocational Higher Education Transformation

BANJARMASIN – Wednesday (13/07/2022). The Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) attended the Coordination Meeting of the Indonesian State Polytechnic Directors Forum (FDPNI) in Banjarmasin. This event was held in the framework of Developing and Improving Student Achievement and the Quality of Vocational Higher Education, as well as an FDPNI event ahead of the 13th Porseni. The event was attended by the Director General of Vocational Education, the Academic Director of Vocational Higher Education, Polytechnic Directors across Indonesia, and Dharma Wanita representatives from Polytechnics across Indonesia.

Director General of Vocational Education Kiki Yuliati stated in her briefing during the event that Vocational Higher Education (PTV) is currently undergoing a transformation through three targets: 1) PTV activities are directed at providing benefits to students, 2) PTV autonomy, and 3) Future-oriented education. Therefore, her office will soon formulate operational steps together with polytechnics to implement these goals.

Endang Kusmana, Director of Politap, welcomed the PTV transformation and hoped that the Directorate General of Vocational Education would soon formulate operational guidelines regarding the PTV policy direction. Politap, as a New State Higher Education Institution, hopes for clustering to accelerate PTV autonomy, particularly for the 17 new polytechnics, so they can participate equitably across all activities.
