On Monday, 18 January 2021, Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) began socialising the new student admission selection for the 2021/2022 Academic Year to school principals, school operators, teachers, and students of SMK, SMA, and Madrasah Aliyah across Ketapang Regency and North Kayong Regency. This promotional activity was held in a hybrid format; most participants attended online via a Zoom meeting, while several schools, adhering to health protocols, were invited for offline socialization from sub-districts closest to the campus, namely Muara Pawan Sub-district, Delta Pawan Sub-district, and  Benua Kayong Sub-district.

This socialization event featured Politap Director Endang Kusmana and Vice Director for Academic Affairs Adha Panca Wardanu, moderated by the Head of the Politap New Student Admission Promotion Committee, Nely Kurnila.

In his presentation, Endang Kusmana highlighted the importance of synergy among Vocational High Schools (SMK), Senior High Schools (SMA), and Madrasah Aliyah (MA) in improving the quality of Human Resources (HR). Endang stated, “Synergy between polytechnics, SMK, SMA, and MA is the key to creating superior human resources, namely pioneering human resources who will play a role in development, especially in Ketapang and North Kayong.” Therefore, according to Endang, Politap is striving to develop the Politap Membangun Vokasi Dari Desa program through a link and match between higher education, industry, and villages to cultivate superior human resources capable of utilizing regional potential.

On this occasion, Endang conveyed his institution's commitment to providing opportunities for high-achieving youth from Ketapang and North Kayong to pursue higher education, even those from outlying regions. To achieve this, Politap will carry out outreach to the outermost areas that are difficult to reach by telecommunication network signals. He hopes that school principals, teachers, and students will seize this opportunity to develop vocational education facilitated by Politeknik Negeri Ketapang.

Meanwhile, Vice Director for Academic Affairs Adha Panca Wardanu presented the profile of Study Programs available at Politap and the employment opportunities accessible to graduates. Danu announced that 510 seats have been prepared for new students for the 2021/2022 Academic Year through three admission tracks: Track 1 is the National State Polytechnic Entrance Selection (SNMPN), administered by the Indonesian Polytechnic Directors Forum (FDPNI) for Diploma 3 (D3) Study Programs, while for Applied Bachelor's (D4) programs, new student admissions join the national selection system managed by the Higher Education Entrance Test Institute (LTMPT). This track is designated for prospective students with academic and non-academic portfolio achievements, with a quota of 30% of the planned capacity.

Adha then elaborated on Track 2, the Joint State Polytechnic Entrance Selection (SBMPN), managed by the Indonesian Polytechnic Directors Forum (FDPNI) for D3 Study Programs, while D4 or Applied Bachelor's programs join the national selection system managed by the Higher Education Entrance Test Institute (LTMPT). This track is aimed at prospective students through written examinations or the UTBK (Computer-Based Written Test), with a quota of 40% of the planned capacity.

Adha also noted Track 3 with a 30% quota of the planned capacity, which is the Independent Track for new student admissions administered directly by Politeknik Negeri Ketapang for both D3 and D4 or Applied Bachelor's study programs through an online CBT (Computer-Based Test) written examination. In this Independent Track, Adha also highlighted financial assistance opportunities for special classes organized as part of a joint commitment with the Governor of West Kalimantan and the Politap Membangun Vokasi Dari Desa program.

Meanwhile, Nely Kurnila, Head of the Politap New Student Admission Committee, outlined plans to visit several schools in remote sub-districts or areas hard to reach through online promotion. According to Nely, the team has organized the travel schedule to adapt to weather conditions, particularly regarding road access. Nely detailed the planned routes: Route 1 to Tumbang Titi, Nanga Tayap, Sandai, Sungai Laur, and Simpang Hulu; Route 2 to Manis Mata, Marau, Air Upas, and Singkup; Route 3 to Kendawangan, Pesaguan, and Sungai Besar; and Route 4 to Sukadana and surrounding areas. According to Nely, promotion to these outermost regions proves Politap's dedication to developing vocational education from villages.
