SAMBAS – Thursday (11/08/2022). Held at the Politeknik Negeri Sambas (Poltesa) campus, a joint learning session on the implementation of Project Based Learning (PBL) was conducted as part of the Workshop on Developing Project Based Learning (PBL) Instructional Materials for Poltesa Lecturers. The event ran for 2 days, 10–11 August 2022.

Attending this event were the Director of Politap, the Vice Director for General Affairs and Finance, and the PBL team from the Department of Informatics Engineering, alongside the Director of Poltesa, Vice Directors, Heads of Department, Study Program Coordinators, and Poltesa lecturers as participants.

The Director of Poltesa, Yuliansyah, stated that we must always keep learning: “We must always learn; do not be ashamed to learn, do not feel inferior. We can learn from anyone, share experiences; there is a time for us to learn, and there is a time for us to share. But regarding PBL, we have a lot to learn from Politap, because Politap was earlier in implementing PBL on campus, and now PBL is running well at Politap. It is this knowledge and experience from Politap that we must absorb and try to apply at the Poltesa campus,” he said.

The Director of Politap, Endang Kusmana, conveyed that his institution is open to sharing and learning together regarding PBL. According to Endang, PBL is a test for leadership—how leaders must remain committed to building PBL on campus with the support of all campus elements by implementing various strategies, namely:  facilitating Heads of Department, supporting their needs, empowering existing teaching factories, initiating internal projects with cost efficiency, executing consistently, and evaluating continuously.

Endang Kusmana also stated that we must not fall behind in programs: “When there is an issue or program from the Ministry and we do not try to implement it, we will fall behind. If our response is not swift, we will fall behind. For that reason, we must respond to these issues and programs quickly so we do not get left behind,” he said. (Finan Su)
