Technological advancements require humans to innovate across various aspects of life with accessible solutions. This is also currently being developed within education in Indonesia, including at Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic). The COVID-19 emergency period has prompted massive changes in the adoption of information technology services, including in higher education services.
To fulfill the needs of the Teaching and Learning Process (PBM) during the COVID-19 emergency response period, Politeknik Negeri Ketapang has made various efforts to ensure that learning activities continue in line with expected learning outcomes. One of these is the provision of online-based learning facilities through a collaboration with Edlink Sevima Surabaya.
Politeknik Negeri Ketapang collaborated with Sevima Surabaya to hold training on using Edlink for lecturers. The event, held online on 29 April 2020, was attended by all Politap lecturers. In his opening remarks, Endang Kusmana, Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang, stated that with this e-learning platform, Politap is believed to be capable of overcoming lecture obstacles during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing all class sessions to be carried out without face-to-face meetings. Not only used during the current pandemic, this e-learning system will also continue to be utilized in the learning process as an alternative learning model. Endang stated that the online model can be used to improve access to higher education.
Vice Director for Student Affairs and Information Systems Epriyandi explained that Politap's Edlink is part of the information systems currently being developed as an integral component of the Academic Information System (SiAKAD) at Politap. The advantages of Edlink in supporting the Teaching and Learning Process include synchronization with Politap's SiAKAD, video conferences, live conferences, class discussions, material sharing, online quizzes, online exams, and learning activity reports. It is hoped that Edlink Sevima will improve the quality of the learning process at Politap.
