Supporting Education and Athlete Achievement, Politap and KONI Ketapang Sign MoU

Ketapang, 3 July 2025 — Politeknik Negeri Ketapang (Ketapang State Polytechnic) (Ketapang State Polytechnic, Politap) together with the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) of Ketapang Regency officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the Implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The signing took place in the Auditorium on the 2nd Floor of the Politap Directorate Building and was attended by various parties, including the Chairman of KONI Ketapang, Theo Bernadhi, S.Sos, and the Secretary of the Youth and Sports Agency of Ketapang Regency, Mohtar Efendi, S.Pd., M.Pd.

This collaboration aims to integrate education and sports through athlete development programs, community sports, internships and volunteerism, as well as the joint utilization and development of sports facilities.

Director of Politeknik Negeri Ketapang, Irianto, SP, S.ST, M.MA, stated in his remarks that this MoU is a tangible manifestation of the institution's commitment to advancing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in community service and student character building.

“We believe that synergy between vocational education and the sports world will have a broad impact, not only for students but also for the people of Ketapang,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, Irianto hoped that this collaboration would not remain merely on paper, but could be implemented promptly through concrete programs.

“With support from KONI and facilitation by Ketapang Dispora, this collaboration is expected to produce a younger generation that is not only academically superior, but also physically and mentally resilient,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of KONI Ketapang Regency, Theo Bernadhi, stated that the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is part of KONI Ketapang's work program. According to him, this MoU opens up educational access and scholarship opportunities from Politeknik Negeri Ketapang for high-achieving athletes.

“This means we want non-academic achievements to go hand-in-hand with academic achievements. Outstanding athletes in Ketapang must also have the opportunity to receive a decent education,” he said.

According to him, this partnership is seen as a strategic initial step in building synergy between the worlds of sports and education. Although it cannot yet accommodate all athletes, this initiative is expected to serve as a strategic stepping stone toward sustainable synergy between the sports and educational spheres.

“Hopefully, this MoU can serve as extra motivation for athletes to continue improving their achievements. Although this step is not yet large, I believe the goodwill to provide a positive impact for accomplished athletes will gradually find its way to growing even bigger,” he acknowledged.

This Memorandum of Understanding is valid for three years and will be followed up through more technical cooperation agreements. The scope of the MoU includes athlete training, scholarships, sports-based community service activities, and the collaborative development of a sports training center. (finn)
